Sunset Tracker App Icon Design

This is an app icon created based off the daily UI challenge to create an app icon. Click to learn about the design process I went through.

Here you see the results and final draft of an app icon for a platform that provides details about sunsets. This project was based off of a Daily UI challenge to create an app icon.

I decided on a sun that includes pink and red towards the bottom to create the illusion of a sunset. The purple hues are added to keep the sunset shape from looking like an egg yolk! The line below is meant to represent water and earth with blue blending into green.

Below are the lo-fi versions of the design. I landed on the straight line for the horizon because it feels universal and topographically vague so everyone can feel welcome.

Here you can view the color iterations I went through before deciding on the icon I did. I want to display these here to showcase the versatility this icon can carry.
